PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf has urged the BCCI to take necessay action, after an Indian arbitration court issued a stay order against ace batsman Mohammad Yousuf not to play for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for breaching a similar agreement with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).
''Although I have no latest information about Yousuf's case, but hopefully the IPL will take up the case, if there is any such decision,'' the PCB chief told 'The Dawn'.
Yousuf joined ICL after being dropped from the inaugural World Twenty20 squad earlier this year. He however changed his mind after being pursuaded by the PCB and joined the BCCI backed IPL.
ICL management, after sending a legal notice to the ace Pakistani batsman later, moved to the Indian arbitration court.
Earlier, reterating the same thought, PCB's Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi said, ''Legal experts will be consulted to finalise a strategy to help Yousuf who initially signed up for the rebel ICL.'' The ICL management had claimed that Yousuf accepted 25 per cent advance payment from them while signing the contract. However, Yousuf claims he had returned the payment.
Several players including former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq have signed up with ICL.
Meanwhile, Dr Nasim said the sub-committee of the newly formed governing board of the PCB would be announced in the next couple of days.
''The process to make nominations for different sub-committees has almost been completed and the names will be announced in the next two days,'' he said.
The decision to form sub-committees to run the affairs of the Governing Board was taken at its first meeting held in Lahore on November 9
